8D7N MOUNTAIN TO SEA TOUR (SEAT IN COACH – SIC)
Overview
Upon arrival in Christchurch, you will be warmly greeted and privately transferred to your accommodation. You may wish to explore the city and consider an optional activity such as the Christchurch Tram Dinner for a unique dining experience.
On the second day, transfer to Christchurch Railway station to embark on the scenic Tranz Alpine train journey, crossing the vast Canterbury Plains. Upon arrival in Greymouth, you’ll be taken to the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes for a short self-guided walk before transferring to your accommodation in Greymouth.
The following day, transfer to Franz Josef, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore Glacier Country and the West Coast temperate rainforest with a guided nature tour. If you’re feeling adventurous, optional activities include visiting the West Coast Wildlife Centre or taking a heli-hike on Franz Josef Glacier.
On the fourth day, depart Franz Josef and journey through wilderness towns, waterfalls, and stunning river scenery en route to Queenstown. Once in Queenstown, the day is free for you to explore, with optional activities such as a gondola ride offering spectacular views of the city.
The fifth day provides more leisure time in Queenstown, with endless optional activities to choose from. Later, join a guided tour of Arrowtown, a charming historic village. You can either spend the evening in Queenstown or return to your accommodation.
On day six, embark on a journey to Milford Sound, where you’ll board a vessel for a scenic cruise through the fjord, surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs. After a memorable day, return to Queenstown for the night. Lunch is included on this tour.
The seventh day takes you through the stunning Kawarau Gorge and the fruit-growing region of Cromwell. You’ll pass through the vast plains of Mackenzie district, framed by the turquoise blue lakes and the majestic Aoraki Mt Cook. After some free time at Mt Cook Village, stop at the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd before continuing to Christchurch.
On your final day, you’ll be transferred to Christchurch Airport for your departure. If time permits, consider a visit to the Antarctic Centre as an optional activity before your flight.

Day 1: Arrive Christchurch (Fri, Sat, Mon, Wed only)
- On arrival, you will met on arrival.

Day 2: Christchurch – Greymouth
- Transfer to Christchurch Railway station for the Tranz Alpine train crossing the vast expanses of the Canterbury Plains.
- On arrival in Greymouth, you will met and transferred to Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes for a short self-guided walk.
- Transfer to your accommodation.
- Overnight in Greymouth.
Day 3: Greymouth – Franz Josef
- Transfer to Franz Josef.
- Afternoon, exploring Glacier Country and West Coast temperate rainforest with guide on nature tour.
- Overnight in Franz Josef.
Day 4: Franz Josef – Queenstown (Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat only)
- Morning, transfer through wilderness towns, waterfalls, and river scenery on the journey to Queenstown.
- Overnight at Queenstown.
Day 5: Queenstown
- Morning, free at own leisure or add the endless optional activities on offer.
- Then, make your way to the Station Building for guided tour to the Arrowtown.
- Choose to stay in Queenstown for the evening OR return transfer to your accommodation.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 6: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Queesntown
- Transfer to Milford Sound.
- On arrival, board your vessel for a cruise of the fiord surrounded by towering mountain and cliffs.
- Returning to shore.
- Return to downtown Queenstown (approx. 12hrs)
- Lunch is included.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 7: Queenstown – Mt Cook / Tekapo – Christchurch
- Departs to Queenstown through the stunning Kawarau Gorge and fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell.
- Travel the vast plains of Mackenzie district alongside turquoise blue lakes, framed by Aoraki Mt Cook and Mt Cook Village where you have free time.
- Make a stop at Church of the Good Shepherd.
- Continuing to Christchurch.
- Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 8: Depart Christchurch
- Transfer to Christchurch Airport.
- Departure.
